By now, I had cleaned up the bedroom off the kitchen at the Kieffner place. We painted it a light lavender, put down new floor covering and bought a dark gray Hollywood style 3 piece bedroom suite. We spent another year at the Kieffner place. Things were much the same for us. Both of us working and balancing out time to take care of the cattle, gardening and canning. During this time, Mom and Dad "sold the farm" on contract to Jerome Hunter. It had become difficult for Dad to farm, help was expensive and hard to get. Jerome did a lot of improvements to the house, and updated the hog operation, but with all of that expense, and BIG time living, he fell way short of making his payments to Dad, and it put them in quite a financial crunch. Summer of 1964 We were friends with Bill and Barb Carrico. Their daughter Rhonda was just a few months older than you. We would put both of you in a tub of water and let you play and play. Then we would put you in the crib on the front porch and you would play and often wear yourselves out and take a nap. Sometimes Barb and I would make supper and have it ready when the "Dad's" got off work. We'd always have farm meat and fresh garden veggies. Barb made awesome Mac & Ch
